I love when historic design details mask a fully modern and state of the art & tech savy home. This estate is proof you can have everything state of the art but aesthetically work with a historic home.
I attended a soirée at Stonebrook Estate early in October and I have to say I’m still thinking about the barbecue grill and how it was state of the art but made to aesthetically work with the historic home. Design details make all the difference, but the devil really is in the details.
I’m also a fan of strong axes in architecture and landscape which this home also does quite well. One axis is the circulation axis going through the center of the home extending to a grassy knoll. The secondary architecture/interior axis runs from the southern wing and main living quarters through the pool terminating at the cabana. The southern wing is a rectangle that runs generally east to west ensuring that that full wing will have sunlight bathing the interiors all day long.
